Moat Farm is a gorgeous property surrounded by a moat in the hamlet of Middlewood Green near the village of Earl Stonham in mid-Suffolk. The Schoolroom is self-contained wing of the house which was, as you'd expect, the schoolroom for children living in the farmhouse. Guests can enjoy a stunning garden and patio with wide borders heaving with herbaceous plants, as well as being invited to wander around the extensive gardens which have been designed to give interest throughout the year. Added bonuses here are the wonderfully stocked farm shop and the opportunity to enjoy candlelit diners in the library at Moat Farm; the owner is a talented chef who will create a delicious three-course Farmhouse Fine Dining menu for you, accompanied by quality wines so, if you have friends and family in the region, you can host a private party for up to ten guests.
Sitting at the side of Moat Farm, with complete privacy, is the door to The Schoolroom; opening into the modern entrance hall with hooks for coats, the kitchen to your right, shower room to the left and rest of the accommodation ahead of you. There are hard floors with under floor heating in the kitchen, lobby and shower room.

A table with exceptionally comfortable bespoke chairs (made by the owners in the late 1970s and selected for an exhibition as examples of the finest furniture made in the UK), allow you to enjoy meals at home and there’s a deep leather sofa and eclectic mix of coffee tables, plus a TV with Sky Box including Sky Sports and digital radio for your entertainment.

A key selling point to The Schoolroom is the outstanding gardens which surround this holiday cottage, attached to Moat Farm, with a private entrance and garden. The front door is reached down a path from the drive where there’s ample parking and the path continues round to the stunning garden with long stretch of lawn with wide borders simply heaving with well-established shrubs and plants. There’s a brick patio with wooden table, four chairs and a parasol so you can relax and share the peace and quiet with the birds and butterflies. At the far end of the lawn is a bench with a backdrop of the moat and fields.
Moat Farm has a number of inspirational ‘garden rooms’ which the owners are happy for you to enjoy – including a winter garden, purple garden and wooden bridge over the moat to the orchard where you're invited to help yourself to apples in season – September to November. There's plenty to keep you busy with a croquet lawn, punting on the moat or, during the autumn, helping the owners make fresh apple juice with the vast surplus of apples from the orchard in the autumn and home grown vegetables to dig or cut from the kitchen garden.

A travel cot and high chair are not available at this property as the surrounding moat makes it unsuitable for little ones.
The Schoolroom sits in an idyllic position on the Moat Farm estate in the rural hamlet of Middlewood Green which is linked to the popular village of Earl Stonham, less than four miles away. As you'd expect there's a moat surrounding the house with many gardens for you to enjoy with benches and chairs so you can relax too with a bridge to the orchard – ideal for country lovers.
There's plenty to keep you busy actually at Moat Farm with farm shop run by the owners or potatoes to dig, cauliflowers to cut and other vegetables which you can help yourself to in the kitchen garden; a variety of apples in the orchard and pressing in the autumn with plenty of the freshest apple juice for you to enjoy. The Moat Farm restaurant wine cellar is being turned into the world’s smallest farm shop and WIneAid, the owners' charitable wine company, will sell a selection of wines therein with a dual temperature wine cabinet so that some wines will be available at the correct temperature for instant drinking. The farm shop stocks fresh milk, bacon, butter, sausages; a freezer with meat packed in portions for two (produced or butchered by local farms), plus homemade ready meals made in the restaurant kitchen with freshly baked loaves of bread. Shelves also stock home made marmalade and jams, plus a selection of store cupboard basics. A fantastic souvenir of your visit to Moat Farm would be a signed copy of the owners, David Wicks, cookery book.
Earl Stonham, a small village in mid-Suffolk, is a hotspot for recreational walkers with beautiful countryside and gentle footpaths to enjoy and you'll find a booklet in the property with maps of a number of circular walks of varying distances.
Nearby towns of Debenham and Stowmarket provide everyday amenities and facilities and there are many popular public house and restaurants in the area including the Shepherd and Dog (promising a great welcome in a fantastic atmosphere, whether you're just looking for a pint or to sample a delicious meal) and Stowupland Crown (a traditional Suffolk pub with a twist – a pizza oven!).

The Schoolroom is part of Moat Farmhouse and shares the garden, however, the entrance is private, there's a private section for you to enjoy and the owners encourage you to wander around the extensive grounds and make the most of the peace and quiet. Please note this is not a working farm so you won't be woken by cows or farm machinery!
